Terms of Service
Last updated: May 2026
1. Acceptance
By creating a tracenow account or making any request to the tracenow API, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you are using tracenow on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organization to these terms.
If you do not agree with these terms, do not use the service.
2. The Service
tracenow provides an IP intelligence API that returns geolocation, network, and privacy data for IP addresses. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time, with reasonable notice where practical.
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the service after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. We will notify you by email for material changes.
3. Permitted Use
You may use the tracenow API for any lawful purpose, including commercial applications, internal tooling, fraud detection, analytics, and security research.
You are responsible for how your applications use data returned by the API, including compliance with applicable privacy laws (such as GDPR, CCPA, or similar regulations) in your jurisdiction.
4. Prohibited Uses
You may not use tracenow to:
- Resell, sublicense, or otherwise commercially redistribute raw API data or responses as a standalone data product or competing IP data service.
- Systematically scrape or bulk-export the underlying dataset for purposes unrelated to your legitimate application use.
- Harass, surveil, or track individuals without their consent in ways that violate applicable law.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, circumvent rate limits, or abuse the API in ways that degrade service for other users.
- Use the service for any purpose that violates applicable local, state, national, or international law or regulation.
5. Rate Limits
tracenow enforces rate limits to ensure fair access for all users. Current limits are published in the documentation and may be adjusted over time. Accounts that consistently exceed limits or exhibit abusive request patterns may be throttled or suspended.
If your application requires higher throughput than the default limits allow, contact us at team@tracenow.io to discuss options.
6. Billing and Payment
The first 50,000 API requests each calendar month are free. Usage beyond that threshold is billed at the rates published on the pricing page. Rates are applied incrementally by volume tier.
Invoices are issued at the end of each calendar month for usage in that month. Payment is due upon receipt. We accept major credit and debit cards. You are responsible for keeping your payment information current.
Overdue balances may result in suspension of API access. If you believe an invoice is incorrect, contact us within 30 days of the invoice date and we will investigate.
We do not issue refunds for API requests that have already been processed and returned a valid response.
7. API Keys
Your API key is credential — treat it like a password. You are responsible for all requests made with your key. Do not embed your key in publicly accessible client-side code, public repositories, or build artifacts.
If you believe your key has been compromised, rotate it immediately from your dashboard. tracenow is not liable for unauthorized usage that occurs before you revoke a compromised key.
8. Intellectual Property
The tracenow API, its underlying databases, software, and documentation are owned by tracenow and its licensors. These terms do not grant you any ownership rights in the service or its data.
Responses returned by the API may be used within your application or product, subject to the restrictions in Section 4. You may not claim ownership over the underlying geolocation or network data.
9. Termination
You may close your account at any time from your dashboard or by contacting team@tracenow.io. Closing your account stops further billing, but does not waive any amounts already owed for the current billing period.
tracenow may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms, fail to pay outstanding invoices, or engage in behavior that poses a risk to the service or other users. We will give reasonable notice before termination where possible, except in cases of severe abuse.
10. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the API will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that geolocation and network data will be accurate in all cases.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, tracenow's total liability for any claims arising from or relating to these terms or the service is limited to the amounts you paid to tracenow in the three months preceding the claim.
tracenow is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
11. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from or relating to these terms or the service shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts.
